This inspection was carried out to ensure rice supply is sufficient thus staple food prices are controlled.

Regarding the inspection result, FSTJ President Director, Arief Prasetyo Adi considered, rice supply in Cipinang Rice Central Market is quite sufficient.

"There are 50 thousand tons of rice today. Yesterday is 51 thousand tons, higher then usual," he said, Thursday (11/8).

He admitted, there is price fluctuation for medium-type rice in market. But it has been anticipated by asking Bulog to hold market operation thus inflation rate can be maintained.

"Currently, rice production from our farmers is actually enough. Its supply is normal," he mentioned.

According to him, medium-type rice supply is decrease because there is a tendency to be premium. Current premium-type rice supply in Cipinang Rice Central Market reaches more than 80 percent. While medium-type rice is under 15 percent.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister, Amran Sulaiman ensured, rice supply availability is sufficient and its price is under controlled. Recent increase on medium-type rice price is considered an anomaly since it is happened when the rice supply is sufficient.

"On the location, we checked food supply from 5 AM and all of them were in stable condition. There is no reason for prices to rise," he stated.
